Disclaimer. Don't have any insiders knowledge of this, but reporting seems to lead me to likelihood that source selection had already occurred, so dinner may not have been any big deal - perhaps celebratory to a fait accompli. Recommend not jumping to worse case conclusion lacking any real information. Just saying.

Mattis is a very well-read and intelligent person. Whether he has read 10,000, I don't know, but he is more well-read than almost any other person in the military and pushed a reading program in the Marine Corps. He was very clear on his guidance to junior officers that they need to be reading.

Trump put these trusted traitors into office so we could see the truth. Imagine Trump trying to convince us that Mattis is a POS.
I envy the sniper who pops his head like a grape. F U C K Y O U M A T T I S
When the shit goes down...he's my new #1...and I'm only a sharpshooter, not a sniper.

Finally, someone realizes that's why he's putting these people into office, to expose them. Entire articles are written about Trump's ineptitude in choosing employees, they are clueless as to the strategy. I knew something was wrong when Trump kept repeating "Mad Dog" all the time. It clearly wasn't to flatter Mattis.

pieces of shit like HRC, Hussein, Brennan, Comey - they're innately pieces of shit
the traitors of the ilk of Mattis (being that he's on the globalist team and hence by definition, anti-American) are the ones that are the very, very worst - capable of doing the greatest damage - because of the trust they garnered

Proceeding from false assumption is the mantra of liberals . And did anyone dig on it? Or are we simply taking the spoken word as gospel? Soliders often come face to face w the enemy. Mattis is a patriot.
And who are they trying to make jump w this assumption spring board? Play smart. Not hard.

this is not the only shit on Mattis - the first was that black eye (initiation signature), then there was his resignation which his reasons expressed were essentially the rationale of a globalist (vs. a patriot putting America first), and then the business of him contemplating being on a ticket to oppose POTUS Trump in the Republican primary, now this
one begins to think that where there's been so much smoke, then perhaps there's a sinister fire causing it

Over the span of 8 years of Obama, 8 years of W, and 8 years of Clinton, a military career is cemented. Don't ever believe that careerist/politician officers and senior noncommissioned officers don't exist at the highest levels of our military because they do. Their political slant and willingness to 'do what they're told' regardless of the morality, virtue or necessity for doing so gets men and women killed, maimed, and families destroyed. I spent 24 years in. You know the ones that are politicians and those who aren't. Those who aren't don't often rise about 2-star ranks...if they get that far. Not talking about all generals above 2-star but I can speak with some degree of certainty that there are far more officers and senior non-coms that worry far more about pleasing the President and service Chief of Staff/Secretary to boost their careers than speaking up for what is right, speaking against the use of military resources when there is no threat to the US, and paying nothing but lip service to being apolitical in decision-making.
In all, I think the military folks are far more dependable Patriots than career bureaucrats because their careers generally don't last more than 30 years (if that long) and many of those years they are not in positions of power that enable them to serve the politicians or bureaucrats and get 'noticed' like in bureaucratic circles. However, there are far more than we need and sadly, I'm left hoping that Mattis isn't one of them but the evidence doesn't look that great.

Thank you; I appreciate it. It's a sad thing to have to admit but it's very true. I think it's why we end up with military professionals contributing to the services being used as a laboratory for social experiments, warriors being prosecuted for killing the enemy, and sketchy deals involving contracting kickbacks. They swear their allegiance to the Constitution and end up showing their allegiance to politicians who further their careers or hold the promise to line their pockets somehow.
