I find it interesting that with deeply religious texts, there never seems to be a copy of the one that was first written... just something written long after the supposed original author has died.
Like... was it copied, and then recopied here and there, and that's how this 20-year-after version exists? Or was the original destroyed, and someone winged it from memory?

That is interesting. I recall reading about the Jordan codices, which I think were purportedly written during the time of Christ...but they may also be a hoax altogether. I suppose it speaks to the way that these texts likely developed over time. I doubt an 'original' as we envision it exists since the individual texts were written over varying periods of time and assembled into an 'original'. One interesting thing is that some parts of this text were likely written by an individual that had at least heard Muhammad speak.

Well, considering the Quran which is in use today says literally to kill all Jews and non-Muslims, I think you are going to be disappointed.
