Seeing how it actually works would show you a lot. Even at the local level it is horribly and fantastically corrupt.
Trying to get on the library board of my local library when I was in my early 20s made me see how fucked up it was even in a town of 15k. For some reason you had to be elected. So I tried.
They changed the rules on the fly and played all kinds of games. It was disappointing to say the least because everyone says you can make changes at the local level. I realized that was just as much bullshit as the rest.
That was almost 20 years ago. I can't imagine it has gotten better.

I wonder is it against the law to pay people to participate politically? Perhaps the reason so many people with leftist goals are because they are paid to "lobby" or participate politically so they can waste their time going to meetings and injecting opinions or w/e just like a regular job.
Problem with regular joe's is that there is no incentive to participate besides some vague notion that "maybe" your opinions might be listened to.

I think OP forgot that people who (((they))) don't like get straight up murdered.

that would require faith in the system. a belief that the system can be salvaged.
Sometimes the only solution is to wipe and reinstall.
