All tech companies are engaged in massive manipulation and censorship to an extent greater than what the public knows and understands. They must react swiftly & harshly in order to send a message to other would-be whistle blowers & journalists who wish to expose them.

Also, they weren't deplatformed for 'hate speech' (as much as I'm sure many at Twitter would like). Their excuse is more like an overzealous application of anti-doxxing.

When they were writing that rule, I doubt they had investigative journalists and whistleblowers in mind. Maybe they did; it's been a while since the first big leaks (Manning and Snowden).
