Yeah. The only bit I liked was the last 10 seconds where there did the "Space the final frontier" thing cutting to the different enterprises.

At least Twin Peaks will finally be getting that 3rd season. A couple decades late - but I only started watching it last year, so I guess I lucked out.

The prisoner finale is the one of the greatest ends to a show ever. I couldn't think of a better way reenforce the message that we're all prisoners of our own devising.

To be honest I never really got the prisoner, saw all of it but never go it (we had 2 channels) but the ending seemed in keeping with the weirdness of the rest of the show.

Yeah. It was a pretty trippy show. If you view it as allegorical instead of a straight forward narrative, it's an incredible series.

There are plenty of cultural artifacts from that period (66-68) that show the effects of the widespread use of mind-altering substances among the creative types of that time, before LSD was illegal, and was mostly the provenance of the intelligentsia.

Rubber Soul, Sgt. Peppers, Get Smart, The Wild Wild West and many others... but the conclusion of The Prisoner takes the cake for the most acid-soaked mindfuck of the era.

I may be dating myself here, but yeah that Quantum Leap episode was horrible. A great show in its time, started going off the rails in the end, and then they ripped your heart out at the last moment. Especially after they'd shown you could leap someone new in to take his place and ended it that way. They could have rotated people in, or something. Just a horrible ending.

Oh yeah, and Enterprise, that ending sucked, but it was still probably better than the season finale where they went back in time to fight Nazi aliens.

Battlestar Galactic's recent series ending was pretty bad... It not only was a bad ending for me it was so bad it made the rest of the series bad retroactively.

I liked it. The only bit I had a problem with is it didn't deal with starbucks whole thing. I listened to commentaries after and the writers assumed we knew some stuff they knew but never showed us.

Yep, it was phoned in. That show started great and deteriorated over time.

There is a lot of NOT SCI-FI on this list.

I think the one that pissed me off the most was Lost because people still cared. Most series end because they have lost more than one wheel of the proverbial wagon. The swell of fandom has left, so the ending doesn't matter. With Lost people still cared. People wanted those answers that they never got. For scifi, Lost had the worst ending ever in my book.

Well, I read somewhere that they had a debate in the writer's room whether they should do a sci-fi or a mythological ending while doing the fourth season. They decided to do the latter.
