My theory is Orwell had a vision of the times we are moving into now, and he interpreted it as best he could through the cultural lenses of his time. So Wikipedia and the msm became the ministry of information. He could not conceive people would willingly have webcam so he had cameras installed in every home by the government. Or people would be so stupid and purchase alexa and Google home, paying for someone to spy on them. Maybe he had little glimpses of modern stupidity and wrote them as best he could understand them. Any way, great book beautiful bittersweet love story. Often think that is understated, the last meeting in the park is brutal.

I agree, the people of today would rather unite by error than divide over truth, very sad.

Excellent observation that cost me some friends. They don't even hear the words before they paint you with some labels.

It has been non-fiction all along, but that became clear on certain September day in 2001.
