Why is everyone so worried about our debt? Like J. Paul Getting said, “If you owe the bank $100, that’s your problem. If you owe the bank $100 million, that’s the bank’s problem.” We'll just keep borrowing until when we can't print anymore. Then we'll borrow from the Saudis. What better way to bust our creditors? Now we just need a leader who has experience in the art of this deal. Any ideas?

They don't want to payoff the debt. Our national debt is what keeps both parties in power and the people chained to the government. Paying off the debt would require the government to curb spending and reduce in both size and scope.

Or because it doesn't cause the real problem and if it carried on will be abused if democrats ever win again. Based on it's spirit. Republicans would be ok with it if we could exterminate all democrats and go full one party. The problem is welfare. If we could get rid of it then the debt is solved.
