The poison pill of democracy. There is no payoff for handing over a fiscally secure nation to the opposition party. Every incentive points toward profligacy now and fuck the future.

Why should congress do anything to make the country a better place for it's citizens? Fuck everyone with less than a million dollars.

Why is everyone so worried about our debt? Like J. Paul Getting said, “If you owe the bank $100, that’s your problem. If you owe the bank $100 million, that’s the bank’s problem.” We'll just keep borrowing until when we can't print anymore. Then we'll borrow from the Saudis. What better way to bust our creditors? Now we just need a leader who has experience in the art of this deal. Any ideas?

Old lesson. Shopaholics do not stop spending until the bank bounces their cheques.

The debt is virually meaningless since it's accounted in currency that the government can create out of thin air. Which they do, regularly.

Or because it doesn't cause the real problem and if it carried on will be abused if democrats ever win again. Based on it's spirit. Republicans would be ok with it if we could exterminate all democrats and go full one party. The problem is welfare. If we could get rid of it then the debt is solved.
