I rather like the website FactsNotMemes.com They have a wonderful one on this "science" and abortion theme. https://www.factsnotmemes.com/articles/ladies-and-gentlemen-the-so-called-party-of-science/ LOL Recommend subscribing to them. They take some of the current memes with a little commentary on each. Good for those who don't meme regularly... :-D

I read OP's link but didn't really see anything that would help a Lib manipulate me. I've observed over the years the complete lack of awareness of their supposed enemy (i.e.- us...) Liberals tend to apply their own worldview to us and project that we think like they do. I think Conservatives are probably better able to turn the tables on them rather than the other way around.

Best example is the mantra, "YOU WATCH TOO MUCH FOX NEWS!!!" Which, unbelievably, STILL gets shouted by them. That's the go-to insult, I guess. What that tells me is that person yelling it is incapable if thinking for themselves. They listen to Rachel Madcow and believe it hook, line, and sinker... so they assume all of us must watch Hannity or Laura and believe everything they tell us. I don't need a pundit to interpret the news for me. I'm a grown ass adult and I can actually say, "Hmmm. Interesting. I need to look that up." Then I go to CSPAN to watch the speech in question in full. Or I log onto a Congressional website to look at the Bill in question. Or I go read the Executive Orders that are being quoted and then... GASP... I actually process it without help and think for myself!

I'm saddened and actually a little fearful that some of these toddlers in adult bodies are completely incapable of understanding what I mean when I tell them this. Of course, it's very difficult to get a full sentence out without being shouted down. And that seems to be their "manipulation tactic" in the main. Shout down any and all information that shows how off base they are.

Which brings me to this: While these supposed "intellectuals" debate their manipulation tactics, I'd put money on it they are just virtue signaling to each other about it and then will fall back on the tactics of shouting and interrupting as usual when challenged.

The link wouldn't work for me in chrome but it would in Firefox. Have seen this a few other times lately while using chrome. Yeah, I could just fire up Wireshark and see what's going on but, nahh! I really need to use a different browser.

How is this relevant? There are more ways to manipulate than just by using forum dialogues now.

Re: Different Browser. I found EpicBrowser.com - It's like chrome, but is more private. Also free. I like the built in VPN as well. Been using that more than any other browser lately. If I'm on a site with a ton of trackers that won't work on Epic, I either decide I didn't need that site after all, or I'll flip over to Firefox.

Liberals and Conservatives Rely on Different Sets of Moral Foundations. The first emphasize individualizing foundations (Harm/Care, Fairness/reciprocity), the second add to these also the binding foundations (ingroup/loyalty, authority/respect, purity/sanctity). (fbaum.unc.edu)

My masters thesis is exploring MFT in relation to conservation - does framing a pro-conservation message in terms of moral rhetoric encourage more people to engage in conservation related behaviors?

Also - I’ve enjoyed following Pete Buttigieg’s presidential campaign because I’m almost positive he’s read Haidt’s “The Righteous Mind.” He’s a master of using traditionally conservative rhetoric while explaining his liberal stance on issues (e.g. abortion). It will be interesting to see how it pays off for him in the long run.

From the article: "I’ve enjoyed following Pete Buttigieg’s presidential campaign because I’m almost positive he’s read Haidt’s “The Righteous Mind.” He’s a master of using traditionally conservative rhetoric while explaining his liberal stance on issues (e.g. abortion). This book could be to Buttigieg what 'The Art of War' has been to Trump. Worth a read just to be armed with his plan to win over liberals.
