Ran into the nicest bear ive ever seen yesterday at ~40 yards. This is in an area where cattle free range june-october, and my initial reaction was to think it was a cow (for about a split second.) Gigantic cinnamon phase bear. Looked like a fucking grizz, but it wasnt. And of course i didnt draw a spring bear permit this year.

RE: flair. My GIMP/Photoshop skills are pretty rudimentary, but you could have, with some basic 'shopping, a Big Fat Quiz; Guess the body part, Front or Back? and of course, Mayo/femayo. I don't know how difficult setting up a simple quiz is, but you could give the flairs to the highest scores.

Anyone else following Jeopardy James? He's won 2.3m in thirty games, and I'm hooked. I don't watch anything on a regular basis but one is exciting. And I cheat. Show airs here at seven p.m. but I get impatient and check to find numbers around four.

Kind of related, didn't wanna post to fphdiscussion cos that's kinda dead. Does anyone know if the 'maintenance' calories on MFP is accurate? I'm 5'8 123 pounds, I put not very active in the goals part and it came up with 1700 calories. That seems kinda high, does that seem right ?

I'm 5'7 and 120ish pounds, sedentary job, my maintenance is 1550 kcal.

Ah that seems more reasonable, do you reckon it'd be more like 1600 for me then?

I have a slightly unrelated meme to share, it reminded me of all of you. I love being a part of this site. When I have bad days you guys cheer me up and remind me that on my worst days, at least I'm not fat lol. And even more than that. As the comments to this show, the regulars on FPH are there for eachother. That's really cool. Anyway, here is the meme. https://files.catbox.moe/997g6z.jpg

Oh no! The Adelaide Motorsport Festival is cancelled! I find this very conflicting. On one hand, hearing the old F1 cars once a year is the only thing keeping me sane, but on the other hand, it was apparently cancelled due to a lack of government funding and this means less unnecessary taxpayer-funded spending. How do I get my annual refresher booster shot of LOUD now? There is only BOSS GP in Europe and that will cost me $4K in flights and accommodation for 90 minutes of entertainment. Eugh.

Ok I'm assuming that you HAVE seen this, but the Formula 1 racing show on Netflix? Drive to Survive? Nothing like watching it in Hi Def 65" tv with surround sound.

Oh man I wish you could watch it with me!

I haven't seen it because I watched the actual season. But also, the thing is that documentary is very biased. They took radio calls from one race and dubbed them over a different race to add drama, for example. IMO, while it did increase F1 viewership, it isn't a good way to do it because people have been given a false representation, especially considering how boring this season is. Ferrari and Mercedes also opted not to participate and those are the two biggest teams. Mostly, though, these new hybrid turbo cars are what killed my passion for the sport. They sound like pure shit. I don't care how fast they are, and while the engineering of them is intellectually interesting, they aren't exciting and what I want from F1 is emotional excitement. Only screaming engines can do that. If you ever get a chance to see pre-2014 cars, firstly, call me and tell me where, and secondly, go have a listen because they are breathtaking.

That wasn't the right video, car, etc.

Neither is this one. But you can at least see a car.

Sadly, though your heart is in the right place, it's about the experience. A real F1 car up close in real life is something you just can't explain and something that can't be captured by video. It's not just the volume, it's the intensity, brutality, and visceral nature of it. You can feel your skeleton vibrate when these cars move. It's intoxicating. The 2013 Melbourne GP remains possibly the best and more unforgettable day of my life.

Nothing will take the sting out of miserable news. How disappointing.

This is not even a drop in the bucket of the fun you would had. Heck, it's not even the same bucket. But your post reminded me of this guy who produces some cool videos. This one's for you:

My grandma passed away suddenly this past week. The funeral is in a few days. I swear to Christ, if The Fat Bridesmaid shows up, I'm going to murder her and my sister.

My grandpa passed recently too. His was not exactly sudden, though. Everything should be fine as long as no one fats too hard. Ours went smoothly because everyone made an effort. No one would judge you for murdering a ham anyway so you have that.

Sorry for your loss, Cars. Although my grandma was 86 and had a few chronic health conditions, it's not like she was sick or in hospital, so the news came as a shock. I was caught completely off guard when my mom called to tell me... I honestly thought she called to tell me she had to put the family dog down (who has been sick the last month or so).

I also have a sneaking suspicion that my obeast uncle is gonna try to stir shit up when it comes time to settle the estate. I'll be sure to make an angry, belligerent post if that's the case.

Cars, murder is a wee bit more difficult to explain away in the eyes of the law. Unless of course, you live in Texas. If that's the case, the "needs killing" statute can be invoked. Just to play it safe, ferret might be wise to seek a slightly more moderate outcome. Maiming is far more civilized. And it doesn't create that awkward second funeral.

REPOST: IDEA FOR "CONTEST," flair, etc.:

(I posted this last week, but so late that almost nobody saw it. So I'm re-posting it now, and hopefully you guys will have some thoughts/input. Thank you to those who did see it and respond last week, though!) So this was my idea--it might be a tad late, so I might need to re-post it Sunday night (I'm sorry, this turned into a very busy week for me):

First, I was thinking it would be fun to just have a discussion thread of The Worst Fat You've Ever Known. Just as a conversation, not necessarily a voting thing (unless others want to do that).

The competition comes in with a regular "Worst Fat of the Month" type conversation. Rather than have this be in one long thread or here in this sticky, we could just have them as normal submissions, but with "Worst Fat" in brackets in the title. So, frex, you find a Tumblr fat moaning about how any man who won't fuck her is a rapist. You would submit that image or link or whatever like normal, and the title would be: "Tumblr Deathfat Calls Men Rapists for not Fucking Her [Worst Fat]." And the discussion would go on like normal (and we would discourage comments like, "Wow, this one gets my vote!" and such, because the goal here is to encourage activity and participation, not to focus on Winning A Contest or even on the contest itself).

Then, at the end of each month--say on a specific date each month so we don't need to count weeks and such, like maybe the 25th of each month (any entries after that point go into the next month's pool), one thread is posted, or a poll is posted in here (We could also do the first of every month, looking at the previous month's entries). The post would have links to all of the submissions tagged "[Worst Fat]." And people vote on it. The winning entry gets maybe custom flair that rotates to each month's winner (so you only get the custom flair for a month)?

At the end of the year we could do a "Worst Fat of the Year" vote, with links to all the monthly winners.

It could also be expanded into a fat meme-type contest. Obviously if the winner is/contains an image, that could go in the sidebar. But we also have some talented artists here, I know; perhaps someone would be willing to do or find some kind of image that represents the Worst Fat of that month? That might be too difficult to do, and Cars might want to keep those separate; I'm just throwing ideas out there.

Anyway. Like I said, the idea is to increase content and submissions and give us a way to "reward" those who so submit/start threads.

I also keep thinking about the great image of Lord Beetus someone drew for me here very soon after I joined--LB on a Scootypuff with a bag full of feet hanging off the side--and I was thinking that could be an image contest that would be fun: Draw Lord Beetus. And those images could rotate or act as placeholders in the sidebar. Maybe a couple of them could be turned into a new header? They wouldn't have to be hand sketches, they could be made with Photoshop or whatever, too. Obviously the side image is really Cars's thing, but I think it would be fun to have a store of images to put up: various ugly fats, depictions of Worst Fats, Lord Beetus, maybe cartoons of typical fat behavior/moments...that sort of thing. Or those could all be gathered together here each month for voting. I know we don't want too many stickies, and I agree, but I think having one for one or two days at the beginning/end of each month, that is then un-stickied when voting ends, wouldn't be too bad? Or the poll could just go here in the Weekly OT.

Again, the goal here is to increase participation and bring in more submissions, not just to win contests. That's why I think entries for a "Worst Fat" contest should be regular submissions with just a tag that indicates they'd like to be considered for Worst Fat, rather than a single thread. That way they become just part of the normal conversation here, and people are encouraged to treat them like any other submissions: comment as you would normally, upvoat as you would normally because the number of upvoats doesn't decide who wins. And again, we would discourage comments that just say things like, "This is the winner!" or "Definitely voting for this one." Just respond to the submission like normal; you'll get your chance to vote when it's time to vote.

If anyone has any other thoughts about it, please feel free! I came up with the idea but I am in no way possessive or proprietary about it, so I welcome feedback and ideas. I just want to help increase participation here and have something fun for us; I don't care about the purity of my vision or whatever. So if there's something you think would make it better, by all means speak up!

I also wonder if it might be worth letting more people know we're here, like in comments on YouTube etc. There are often a number of shitpeople there; are we worried about what might happen if we comment there encouraging them to join us here, or is it just not something we do? I can see both sides, so I'm not necessarily advocating doing that, I'm just thinking about increasing our membership. I've invited a few people I'd seen shitlording on YT/Fattit, but I'm hesitant to post an open invite due to trolls and/or fear of getting us (or me) in trouble for it. Does anyone have any thoughts on increasing membership numbers?

Although, being more active might increase it automatically, right?

Anyway, that's my idea. Please say if you love it or hate it or have any other thoughts.

Advertising seems like an interesting idea, but I can see some pros and cons of it. Not sure how we would go about doing that tho...

I like the worst fat idea. Maybe it’s too complicated but I would suggest breaking it down into worst fats we know personally and worst famous fat.

I actually had a similar thought! Worst Fat We Know and Worst Fat in Media (which would encompass all media stories we post, not just Mess or that Steve asshole every month).
