Almost all the gay men I know have done drag at some point.. Also one of my friends actually started figuring out his gender identity through drag. I really don't see why drag queens should be banned.
I think you may have been confused by the headline, but the article clearly states that people may wear whatever they choose. The group that organized the event is no longer have paid performing drag queens. I don't think should negatively impact the cause, we'll maybe this bogus headline, but it seems like they are being respectful and welcoming.

Given the role of drag at the forefront of the gay rights movements, I can only see this as a huge insult and a troubling ignorance of history.
