An effective way ancient Celts used to do battle is leave all the old and decrepit alive during a raid. This was done so that due to the raid killing a lot of the young and viable members the survivors of it would have to deal with their old while having less resources and means to care for them. If they didn't take care of them, then they'd be betraying their own people but if they did try and take care of them they'd be weakening themselves even more for another raid to take place.

Competing against European teams all but assures Israel will never qualify to enter the world cup.
Jesus Christ, yet another Israel expulsion to add to the list. Since they haven't qualified since 1970, which was in an easier confederation, we can thankfully write them off.
It seems even though they did get into the 1970 Tournament, they didn't do very well.
