Fuck if I know, but a good friend of mine had a weird stroke which left him in a similar state as your father's. The doctor told him he was not sure if he could recover. I'm guessing this is because he's a rather good doctor who got to know his patient well enough to know what a stubborn ornery fuck he could be, and he stubbornly resolved to get better and get back to work immediately, which he mostly did. He's all better now, but it took him years. He never stopped looking older and craggier, though. But being that he's a big strong guy, it just made him look kind of cooler.

I'm not sure about aneurysm's causing wrinkles, but we do know that strokes can fuck up how your facial muscles work.

This is a nightmare scenario for actors. Especially Game of Thrones actors- the writers are so shit, the last several seasons have just been "close up shot on actor's face reacting at something". If she can't make a mean face just right anymore, her career is over.

I guess sickly people do tend to "age" faster. The stress on the mind combined with the difficulties the body faces just sucks up energy.
