I'm really into records and used to collect those with some regularity when money allowed it. I kind of went through various stages. Initially, I just want about trying to get stuff from the San Fransisco sound around the late-60s. Then I became really interested blues and jazz records. Finally, I just started taking a lot of joy in digging through bins and finding really odd things that seemed interesting.

Man, I have way too many. Which is great, but also kind of terrible because I split time between all of them. I play a lot of video games, avidly follow the NFL and NHL. I just added MLB to that list this summer (so far only following the Jays though.). I used to make short films, but that sort of got put aside when I went back to school, I've really been considering picking it up again now that I've graduated. I love socializing, so drinks with friends, LAN parties with friends, Magic the Gathering with friends, etc. I recently started getting into comics, that one is real expensive though so it's gradually being eased in. There's probably more that I'm forgetting...

I'm into martial arts and lifting weights. When I was a teenager I did Karate and now, after an 8 year long hiatus I'm doing Krav Maga. I started lifting more seriously and am also into pogonotomy.

I played a shit ton of sports growing up, but now that I am older I find other things to occupy my time

  • I picked up DJing when I was about 19, stuck with it for 6 years or so. I love music, and getting to listen to music loudly while making your own mixes is fun as hell.

  • Refinishing wooden furniture/making things. IF I can get my hands on something for free I will either refinish it, or sometimes I will disassemble it, refinishing, then build something new with it. This one I keep at and now focus on bigger projects instead of tinkering. Floating bed frame is what I want to do next.

  • Wood carving - bought a set of chisels and from time to time I will whittle, carve or chisel something.

  • Since joining voat I have begun to learn CSS to screw around with in my sub. Very fun so far but not sure how much time and effort I will put into it.

  • Making food - Having worked as a chef in the past I came to love cooking, and I really enjoy spending time in the kitchen. I dont mind spending close to 2 hours in the kitchen making a really nice (simple, yet elegant in my motto) meal. Just pour a drink, turn on the music, and off I go.

I think most of us will say computers in one way or another, that's one of mine! Cars, DJing, photography a long time ago, and biking! Don't really keep up on any of them now that I have other expenses. All I really do now is bike ride on a bike I wish I could afford to replace.

EDIT: Saw someone else mention it, I ALSO got into homebrewing a few years back! My wife and I love doing it, but it's another thing that's fallen to the wayside due to having to pay for other things! That and we used to live in apartment with bad AC so we couldn't brew in the summer!

I go swap hobbies after every couple years. It tends to be I get really into it and then burn out on it.

Started with rock climbing about 6 years ago. Would climb at least 6-10 hrs a week and fly to different climb spots.

After I dropped that I picked up fencing for about 3 years. I would practice about 12-15 hrs a week on top of driving to competitions almost every weekend.

I got bored of that and recently have been trying to get into clay sports.

Distance running: a few years ago, I decided to try running. Fast foward to now and am running half-marathon distance several times a week as part of my training.

Cycling: since running can get rather monotonous, I picked up cycling. It's actually quite fun (although quite expensive to get started with good/durable gear).

Highly recommend both as physical hobbies.

RPGs for a long time now.

Wine making. I keep thinking that this is a recent hobby, but then I opened a bottle of mead and realized that it was about three years old. So far, I've made about 3 batches I consider worth drinking. And have poured out about the same. Which reminds me- I should get another batch going.
