Well they can't totally ruin all businesses. I refuse to buy shoes or clothing I cannot try on before purchase. I fully inspect most of my purchases before handing over the cash since I've been burned before rushing a purchase so I take my time and look stuff over thoroughly even opening packaging if possible. Amazon is making a lot of assumptions and people will get wise after a while then they'll be stuck with huge buildings and less business. Sure they like kmart and walmart will hurt the local small store, but many of us support our neighbors by buying locally when it is possible and the price is not to much higher. As for Walmart they are being reamed. I looked at some usb sticks in the store and they are like $20 but at amazon the same ones are like $8 and some off brands are cheaper though you have to be careful since the off brands could be mismarked purposely by the manufacturer and be half the capacity or usb 2 instead of 3.
