Okay, Neat article, thanks. So it would appear that natives share lineage with europeans and Siberians, indicating that they are relatively closely linked to those groups. I suppose then it wouldn't be unreasonable to classify natives as a subclass of either caucasoid of mongoloid, though I'm not sure which you'd go for as north native americans clearly have traits of both. While caucasoids branched off in the caucasses and mongoloids branched off in the far east, it seems reasonable to consider natives to be another branch on the tree of humanity that's just closer to causcasoid than some of the other groups.

Of course your original statement would probably hold somewhat true. Native americans would be part caucasoid and part mongoloid, but serve more as a third branch than an intermediary state. Southern americans, hispanics, would represent the intermediary state. North native americans are more of an independent branch.
