So many regulations on cars, so many mom/pop truck transport lost their business with the carb diesel rules. The diesel laws since 2008 are just insane, they do nothing to improve the environment, and if anything make it worse

and "we" NEED this why? For MORE stupid people?

When given a choice, I buy the vehicle with the least amount of sensors and gadgets. They are all parts that break easily and I'm rough on everything.

I THINK a company that produced vehicles using EXPIRED patents would be FAR more economical. Case in point. The '80 Isuzu mark whatever. Diesal...53 MPG. RELIABLE. WHY did it disappear?

My car is weird. It didn't come with a spare; instead, it came with a tire repair kit and there's a portable air compressor under the drivers seat.

It's a Fiat, I'll just carry it to a gas station.

What brand is that? That's new to me.

Kias do this now. Some come with a can of fix a flat attached to a compressor. I think the Cruze eco does too.

I've seen that too. I've made a mental note to demand a full size tire if I ever buy a new car again.

If it's a car it might be bouncing around the trunk because many aren't designed to fit a full size

funny. I owned a car once that had some 'personality.' it had no TPMS sensors in any of the wheels. But, occasionally, the low pressure light would come on. only way to turn it off, i thought, was to go to a tire shop.

nope. with the ignition on, turn on & off the parking lights 3x, and it'll turn that light off. i've done it while driving down the road. it only happened once every couple months tho, so not a major issue, once i knew it was part of that car's personality.

This isn't personality, it's indirect tpms lol. The car guesses pressure based on data from the wheel speed sensor. If you have different tread depths between tires (especially on the same axle) it'll mess with it

My dad told me that he found a random code on his key fob that remote started the car. That's a nice feature to accidentally find.

Ah, wait until you learn about cars that don’t have dip sticks to check the oil and you have to use the instrument cluster to wait for it to be low a quart.

I'm not cool with that. I'll be sure to look for that if I buy another car

Didn’t realize until I bought and was like, “how the fuck do I check my oil!!!”

First car that I had to RTFM. Fuck me

There's ways to check the level just not with a dipstick. Usually a check plug with the engine running and the trans up to temp

This is because people allowed the government to decide that people are not smart enough to maintain their own vehicle. And then they don't even know how to put air in the tire.

If your kid is 18 years old, has their own car, and doesn't know how to put air in their tires or check the fluids, you failed as a parent.

Well truly, people are too retarded to maintain their vehicle, at least in the states. Source: mechanic

I don't want to agree with the first paragraph but I definitely agree with the second.

As much as you all hate on shit tire pressure sensors are the right direction. They don't control anything just display information. Use that information to improve your fuel economy and avoid flat tires and blow outs or don't. You can still choose to drive around on low tires if you can ignore that light.

No not true many manufacturers will make the car go in limp mode when the tps light comes on. Some even disable the traction control.

[–] drakesdoom2 ago

Well that's retarded.

They aren't bad until the spare tire is monitored too. Now I have to drop it, pull it out, fill it, lay under the car to hook it up and then crank it back into place. The good thing is that its my wife's car and I don't have to look at the light for the next 6 months while it doesn't get fixed.

[–] sn0wbawl ago

Heaven forbid you actually keep the spare aired up

[–] drakesdoom2 0 points 1 point (+1|-0) ago

The other alternative is you bitching you had to go rescue your wife because she had a blow out from low tire pressure and her spare was flat.

Speaking of which why does she drive? Is your kitchen that far away?

[–] rejectedfromreddit ago

Yep. Proper tire pressure is one of the most cost effective ways to improve fuel economy. If I ruled the world, every gas station would be required to provide customers with free access to an air compressor

Many do. For the rest of us, $20 gets us there. The real trick is getting people to read the label in the door instead of filling the tire to max pressure
