Lived in Princeville on Kauai back in mid 80s. It was nice there, but then again, it’s a very expensive part of Hawaii, so, of course it would be.

I have heard if you’re white, you will not be liked, and unless you could afford to live in a place like Princeville, it’s bound to be an issue. But, since I never had to deal with that, can’t verify, but it makes sense. The only issue I had, was being in my mid twenties and getting rock fever, I did love the beauty, but I missed sidewalks and city life at night. Also, it’s tough to explain, but living on an island made me anxious in a way that is beyond describing.

noted, thanks. Due to the specialization that I am working on, and the work that I've done, getting a high-paying job should not be an issue.

The anxiety thing is scary though. I've lived on an island my entire life

I have some contacts there so that's an idea.

I hope to live there (specifically Kauai) someday. My husband has a potential to get a job there in 5 years or so. I don’t want to live there for life, just spend a few years there. It’s very $$$.

Just know that, in general, Hawaii is not like it used to be.

Monsanto has decided to experiment on GMOs and chemicals on the West shore of Kauai. The island is beautiful, but don’t live on the west side. Specifically, don’t live near the coffee filelds. They spray them every day and my friend who did live there said the local community near the spraying has a 40% cancer rate. No thannks!

Oahu is getting too commercial, but I went there for over a week last summer and the north shore is still “country.” I hope it stays that way.

Big Island (aka Hawaii) seems to be the most old school and hasn’t allowed Monsanto there. Also it’s big enough to keep a country feel. You’d have to deal with volcanos sometimes there, but it might be worth looking into depending on what jobs are available.

Don’t know as much about the other islands. Just those 3.

@Le_Squish lives on Big Island, I believe. She might have some input.
