I'm assuming these subs are pretty niche and not many people are on them anyway. Banning abusive people is one thing. Suppressing speech is another (although a private business should be able to promote the kind of speech it wants to, right?).

I agree, it's a private site and they can adhere to their own rules. I just think it is funny that they announced to the user base that it would be banned because it was promoting raping of women and then do not go through with it.

They are so fucking confused. The mess just gets worse, and it's their own fault.

It will be taken down, once the official language is hammered out, what they will decide gets the "offensive"/"opt-in" label, what that language is, and I can assure you, they won't just be taking down that sub. It will be a proper "cleaning" of content, that will be justified by going back to the AMA "we asked for your opinions, and have incorporated it into the rules", coupled with "if any loopholes in the language exists, we will change the policy in the future to reflect this".

EDIT: I was wrong. It was banned with philosophyofrape. At least one sub points to "This subreddit was banned for inciting harm against others." EDIT 2: beatingwomen2, and gasthekikes are down. I may have been on the money. So far if it is good enough to already break the "incite harm rule". Will stop editing posts, this is the other thread. Final count of banned subs to be determined.

I'm entirely opposed to the idea of raping women, but did anybody actually look at that sub? It's all satirical and circle jerk. It's bad humour I give you that, but it doesn't promote any raping whatsoever.
