Simply amazing. And no government required, despite what some environmentalists want.

I'm guessing they were black. I watch a lot of TV and have learned about what great people African americans are.

Don't know if black but as a couple, It's impossible to generate electricity and water in the desert and send water uphill, miles away. The story smell like a shit show. Someone is paying good money to the journalists somewhere.
Ps, Just noticed this goat below mentioned that planting 368 trees a day for every day for 20 years is impossible!

Senor Salgado is one of the worlds great photographers who can afford to do this, its not a shit show or set up at all. You don't need water in the brazilian hinterland as there is so much rain and he doesn't need to pay anyone as he is world famous.

Picture of them in the article, appears this forest is a result of "muh white supremacy" and now needs to be deforested to provide toofpicks for good bois on the way to college on street corners.

2,000,000/20=100,000 100,000/365=273.97 274 trees per day

The couple hired around 24 workers in the beginning and planted the first seed in December 1999. Later this organization was joined by numerous volunteers over the years.
So, it looks like a lot of people were involved in the effort but the couple was the driving force behind the forest restoration. Dedicating 20 years of your life is still a major undertaking and the results are impressive. It just shows what a few people can manage when they apply themselves wholeheartedly to a task.

Cool. But that article is absolutely dripping with propoganda.
[–] Guy_Justsome 1 point 3 points 4 points (+4|-1) ago
As we all know, an area almost equivalent in size to South Africa i.e.129 million hectares of forest have been lost from the Earth forever since 1990.
lost from the Earth forever
And then the rest of this story contradicts this rhetoric.

Good observation. What I couldn't stand is the ploys to tug on emotions. I became disgusted and gave up once it seemed clear there was no real meat left to the story.
