Cool. But that article is absolutely dripping with propoganda.

As we all know, an area almost equivalent in size to South Africa i.e.129 million hectares of forest have been lost from the Earth forever since 1990.

lost from the Earth forever

And then the rest of this story contradicts this rhetoric.

Good observation. What I couldn't stand is the ploys to tug on emotions. I became disgusted and gave up once it seemed clear there was no real meat left to the story.

2,000,000/20=100,000 100,000/365=273.97 274 trees per day

It's 2,700,000 not 2,000,000...

Trees multiply quickly to fill in spaces between them. So if you plant a line of trees 10 metres apart within a couple of years a tree shoot up somewhere in the radius of each tree and they propagate from there. That's how forests grow. Trees propagate and fill the spaces between them over time. All they would have had to do is plan a few thousand trees or even just spread seeds and wait. The tree growth will propagate exponentially until density limits growth. It's still a massive undertaking and an immense amount of work though.

Read the article. They didn't do it alone.

Also, it is completely possible to plant that many trees in a day. I used to do this sort of work as a summer high school job and you can plant this many trees (as saplings) in an hour.

Simply amazing. And no government required, despite what some environmentalists want.

I'm guessing they were black. I watch a lot of TV and have learned about what great people African americans are.

Don't know if black but as a couple, It's impossible to generate electricity and water in the desert and send water uphill, miles away. The story smell like a shit show. Someone is paying good money to the journalists somewhere.

Ps, Just noticed this goat below mentioned that planting 368 trees a day for every day for 20 years is impossible!

Senor Salgado is one of the worlds great photographers who can afford to do this, its not a shit show or set up at all. You don't need water in the brazilian hinterland as there is so much rain and he doesn't need to pay anyone as he is world famous.

Well.... Technically the trees could reproduce by themselves, they dont need the whole lot of 2.7 million "planted".
But what do I know, its not like I am a treeologist.

Picture of them in the article, appears this forest is a result of "muh white supremacy" and now needs to be deforested to provide toofpicks for good bois on the way to college on street corners.
