it is a fruit tree technically... individual fruits which I'm told are very sweet, but each fruit is sorta like an individual pomegranate seed and the seed is rock-hard.
What I mean is, all fruit can't be grafted onto one another. You can't graft apples on a peach tree, for example. So I wouldn't give your hopes up on turning it into a living cornacopia.
I get what you're saying... I still may give it a try because I'd like to get the sun-light to the ground in that area and I could at least give this a shot before bringing down the oversized "stump" the next year if nothing takes. I'd be out like $5 and a minimal time investment to give it a go.
