Apples and pears can maybe go on the same tree, but generally speaking you can only graft on like trees. Apple on other apple trees, maple on maple, etc. I'm just not sure where hackberry fits into all of that.

What I mean is, all fruit can't be grafted onto one another. You can't graft apples on a peach tree, for example. So I wouldn't give your hopes up on turning it into a living cornacopia.
