If God has the power to stop this, but doesn't, then why worship him?
He doesn't have the legal power to stop this. He delegated it to us. You should understand the Bible before trying to talk about it.
Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
John 20:21 So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.”
Because in Christianity, this life is not the main event. Meanwhile, on an atheist worldview, suffering and death and pretty much all human concerns are but fleeting blips in the timeline and scale of the universe. So where does your standard come from upon which you base your judgments? Your worldview has everything we know as a blip, so I am curious how you simultaneously deign to assign value judgments given your worldview.

God doesn’t care about comfort or pain. He cares about order and growth. If you hold God to a human standard you will think little of Him. Jesus was the best a person can get and still he made sure we see his image crucified, betrayed, and cast- out. Happy Easter.

'Cause God is just a made-up thing in your mind.
You can attribute anything to him that you want.

Or how to look both ways before crossing the street.
