She wrote the algorithm though. It's like saying that Beethoven shouldn't get credit for his symphonies because someone else played them, or Stanley Kubrick shouldn't get credit for making 2001 because someone else acted in it. It was a team effort headed by her, based off of her own theories.

It's called the "one drop" principle. If a woman or a black person contributed in any way, it becomes a "female accomplishment" or a "black accomplishment." Like with the movie Hidden Figures and the lunar landing, or how blacks built the White House according to Michelle Obama because they provided raw materials and did some unskilled manual labour.

On top of only writing 1% of the code... not all code is created equal.

She did the equivalent with her code that like... a child does with crayons, trying to make a car pretty, after a team of men build it from the ground up.
