No, toward the end it said the king had to pressure them to pay him at all, and he didn't get the money until he was 80 years old only to die three years later. I remember reading elsewhere that they didn't want to pay because he was a "mere commoner".

Great video. But their initial claim that the given clock they are presenting "changed the world" does not bear out. It took a much different design for a sea chronometer, which he did in fact invent. But they really glossed over the details of the watch and the features that actually did the work.
