It's possible to make liquid fuels from plants, and it's easy enough to extract hydrogen gas. These fuels are not as useful as gasoline and coal, but they would work. There would probably be more nuclear plants. Batteries would be developed more intensively than they are today. Life wouldn't be that much different, but it would be more expensive. For example, airplane flight might be out of reach for the average family. Trains would be a larger part of land travel. We might have zeppelins in our skies.
