The cases were not dismissed, as I understand it. They were put on deferred prosecution.

This is optics, I think.

Odds are that Smollett is state's evidence for a lot of big Federal stuff.

I do decodes of Trump tweets and the coded messages keep alluding to the Smollett affair blowing holes in some big people:

Barack, Michelle, Harris.

Plus alternate media is finding links from Smollett to other Swamp Creatures like Avenatti. My opinion is that there is A LOT more than meets the eye on Jussie Smollett

A nolle pros is the criminal equivalent of a dismissal.

The term in the media was DEFERRED PROSECUTION.

What do you mean by "criminal equivalent"? Are you saying the official status of Smollett's case is "nolle pros" ? Yes, there is not a proceeding grinding forward, at the moment, if that is what you mean.

I haven't seen definitive documents about the precise status of Smollett's case. But it doesn't make sense that 16 felonies would be started and stopped in the space of a few weeks. The only logical explanation is that Federal stuff is coming down and he is co-operating.

The authorities said a "deal had been done". What does Smollett have as leverage for a deal, on his side, that can give him a hall pass for 16 felonies ?

Is there anything "honest" and "ethical" in Illinois?
