Boy if there is one thing that has been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt this past year, it is "repeat a lie enough times, and it becomes the truth." It is painful to watch happen every time it does, too.

I hate to bring it to this but...

"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it."
"The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State."
Joseph Goebbels

"Why of course the people don't want war ... But after all it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship ...Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger."
Hermann Goering

Now remove the "State" or the war bits, and you can see how in those two quotes many people and politicians, radical groups of all stripes use that type of thinking and planning in what they do. Don't like the truth? Repeat lies over lies over lies. People start believing that over the truth. It gets worse. Some people, even after being shown that what they believe is 100% wrong, and even acknowledging that fact, still choose to believe the lie, and in fact will double down on it. That's how good this shit works.

And no, I am in no way, shape or form calling people who use those tactics nazis. They were used before there were nazis and they are being used today by people who are not nazis. Those are just some good quotes.

I don't know if you have seen Robert Whul's Assume the Position 101 and 201, its a really good thing to watch if you can find it. In it he does talk about how history gets changed. "When the legend becomes fact, print the legend". If you haven't seen it I would suggest hunting it down and waching them. They are entertaining to watch and very interesting.

Total Biscuit is one of the few people in the industry that actually gives a shit about the consumer experience. He constantly stands up for the rights of those who buy the games, and exposes bad business practices whenever he finds them.

The reason why these fucking "journalists" are so angry at him is because TB is emblematic of the core audience leaving their bullshit sites in favor of people who are actually pro-consumer.

You just hit the nail on the head in your last paragraph. TB and other unbiased reviewers are the exact reason why the last holdouts of the old media that tried to make the jump to being relevant in the Internet age are flailing so hard. Their old ways of spouting whatever the hell they felt like and expecting the consumers to lap it up are on their last legs, with people like TB shining the light of truth on their lies and constructed narratives.

Out of everyone involved in this shit show, on both sides, TB has been the most level headed. I've never even heard of this loser trashing him now.

The thing with TB is that he has been effectively neutral from the beginning. But because he does stand up for ethics and the constant attacks he gets from AGG, he looks more and more like he's on our side even when he says we can be just as crazy as AGG

the second time I've seen some no-name extremist launch a half-assed smear campaign against TB in (presumably) blog-form.

It was actually a series of tweets. And the guy made his twitter account private only minutes after TB posted his audioblog...
