I've got Rogers as well. They started with just the image warning, then one day about a month ago a siren started up with a full-size screen message stating that this is their new warning system. I had to acknowledge it by pressing a button (star or something) on the remote. It was on again yesterday during the tornado watch.

I remember the first time I saw a tornado warning pop on my TV screen after moving to Ottawa, after an initial WTF?!?!?! I realized that I had no idea what to do in the event of a tornado. Fortunately I happened to be on IRC and one of the folks in channel from somewhere in Oklahoma gave me some decent advice - hooray for basements eh?

I don't have any previous experience with the Rogers service as I live in the U.S. but that's a nice addition for people that don't have cell phones or other ways to get severe weather warnings.
