true but the diesel is less complex .. its a tough one especially with the newer blocks and heads being used on older machines (no turbo naturally) .. but as you say more power from the petrol/ethanol and handcrank option - i had a friend who had a hydraulic generator welder that attached to the back axle somehow - nifty british cold war tech

There's an optional PTO (power take-off) module that you fit to the gearbox by removing a cover plate. shaft goes out the hole in the rear chassis crossmember, and you get a new lever in the cab to engage and disengage.

Easy to fit if you can pick one up second hand.

I wouldn't say the diesel is less complex, fuel injection pump is perhaps the most "high tech" piece of kit on either engine. You must also remember to regularly drain water from the fuel filter if you're using 3rd world fuel.

Both models have an oil bath air filter, meaning it lasts forever (dust is trapped in a cyclone, then dumped into the oil bath), basically Dyson stole this concept for his vacuum cleaner.

i used to go to the auctions with the same friend in wakefield .. all sorts of mental variants - small digger arms, cherry pickers, ploughs as well as the usual armoured stuff - ex GPO and army .. should have invested heavily :/
