You did say he could have "wiped them off (out?)" but chose not to. Presumably you meant that it would have been easy to just invade Britain.
If you already understand that it is not then you already understand why he didn't; It would have been suicidal.
I've always been of the mindset that one should never go to war with an adversary unless you have a plan to defeat them. The trouble with German war-planners is that they often had idea how to defeat the British. How can you defeat a naval superpower without a navy? Why… with u-boats? Super weapons? Air power?
What he probably should have done was just offered them a peace-deal that they couldn't refuse; France back and only minor territorial concessions in the West. Britain has always had a stupendeous advantage in being a naval superpower on an island.
