I don't think it really detangles it, at least not according to my wife's hair, they sell dentangler in a serparate bottle. The conditioner is to keep it healthy. So it's soft, healthy, and has a nice sheen to it.
Did a quick google, and some conditioners have detangler in them. But, they are essentially two separate things. Like when you buy the bottles of shampoo and conditioner. (Warning, I didn't read much.)

Your hair is thirsty. Conditioner is like a cup of juice. It keeps it healthy and full of vitamins so it doesn't get sick.
