Honestly for 90% of the customers our there the store is less of an issue then the game that just spam ads

The problem there is how to market, you'd need to get exposure somehow. Thenm you also have to have your own server to download from, etc..

On android, there aren't as many restrictions, and there are a selection of games made that are straightforward like that, they are rare. There's a reason why the "free" games generate the most revenue.

would anyone be interested in a spaceflight game, accepting that due the limitations of the system, graphics might look a bit like starfox 64?

I honestly think your biggest hurdle is control on a touch screen--conquering that is "the big question"
