Tripe, I cannot even describe what it tastes like as I only ate it once, like many others.

It barely has any taste at all, I only add it to dishes for the texture.

Have you ever had menudo?

No! I live in the UK and have only had plain tripe. These dishes that I keep looking up make me think I should maybe try some of them.

In soups, its great! A local Vietnamese place has it in their pho. As far as I can tell, it didn't really have a taste of its own...

When visiting my husband's family in China, they insisted that I try his hometown's specialty - lamb hotpot. I am not a huge fan of lamb, but I figured that I would have to give it a try. When we walked into the restaurant, I couldn't help but to notice that there was this really gross smell... but I wanted to be polite so I didn't say anything. It took everything that I had to eat it a few bites of the hotpot. There was this gross, metallic taste to the meal. I picked something out of the pot that I thought was a vegetable and asked my husband what it was... that's when he decided to tell me that the hotpot was FILLED with lamb organs and the "vegetable" that I had was intestine. That's when it became clear that the smell and the taste were from the organs in the hotpot. I quietly excused myself from the table and ran to the bathroom. It was absolutely awful!

Mexican Flan. It looked soooo good. I expected it to be rich and sweet like Crème Brûlée with some delicious caramel sauce on top. What I got was a too mushy but also too firm mouthful of disgusting wet milky egg substance. It was like eating something that was already chewed up by someone else. I couldn't finish it because I felt queasy after one bite.

You had a bad flan. Normally it is very much like creme brulee.

Everytime I've had flan it's been incredibly disappointing; like you said, eggy, mushy, all gushy. And everytime it's on the menu, it gets a "second chance" and everytime it's just so.... Disappointing....

Fish. Any of it. I just can't eat what comes out of the ocean...

I am going to try swordfish though, everyone tells me its meaty like a steak, and the texture / flavor may be more to my liking.

Vegemite. It's the only food I've ever eaten that induced vomiting by taste alone.

I had vegemite on vacation to England. Even a tiny bit if it felt like torture. My English friend happily ate a bunch of it. I just stared at him thinking he's a wizard who can temporarily disable his taste buds.

I had hákarl in Iceland. It's shark that's been buried and fermented. It smells godsawful. The waitress brought it out in a tiny jar, and she told me to close the jar after I've eaten it because "people are trying to eat in here." When you chew it, it coats your mouth in this oily film of nastiness. It was the worst thing ever. Glad I did it.

did they give you the rotgut liquor afterwards to wash the taste out?

Yeah, it came with Brennivín. It's way better than the shark.

I didn't try it but I saw and smelled balut and it looked so damn awful. I really do not understand how people can eat that stuff but I guess I don't have to because that shit is not going into my mouth, ever.
