I have a problem with a statement like yours.
Someone once decided lobster is a delicacy and "cultured". Those things where fed to prisoners as a gross food for punishment. Just because society or who ever declares something as a good food or beverage, does not make it really good. If you tried something, and actually like it, and not just say it is good from peer pressure, then you like it. Yey.
If it makes me uncultured that i only eat the food that tastes good to me, then so be it.

I know this yet it is a food for wealthy people at this moment in time so it is a cultured food.
your last statement is true but think about this, a lot of people prefer margarine spread over butter and this is because they grew up eating it and never having butter.
Lamb shanks used to be sold as dog bones in Australia and it was a meat for poor people but now lamb shanks are expensive, lamb in general is expensive.. over $40 a KG for rack of lamb and I don't like lamb I find it oily I only eat lamb crumbed cutlets.

You know, maybe, there is a small chance that the few times I tried lobster it was just prepared really bad.
For the acquired taste, i think that is something really dumb. "hey i am eating this, which i find taste absolutely awful. but i will keep eating it, like my peers expect me to, in the hopes that i will get used to the taste some day"
It's more like you don't like it and stop eating it. Then after a while, you keep seeing how people like it and think, maybe is not as bad as I remembered? Someone offers, you taste and well, it's not so bad. So So or may actually good. Some time pass again, you trying, you kind of like it and well in the end you end up wondering how is it that you didn't like this in the first place?

Wait you think they're gross because they're a delicacy? What if pizza becomes a delicacy, will you hate it then?
[–] Germ22 ago
No not because they are a delicacy. Just so happens that what often is regarded a delicacy I find super gross.
I tried chocolate with real truffle once, was rather expensive for a very small piece, and it was kind of disgusting. Just because someone somewhere decided that something is a delicacy, does not mean it is actually good.
Pizza is delicious. I hereby declare Pizza to be a delicacy of highest regard!!
