Smollet and his attorneys maintain the actor has anything to do with the assault other than being the victim of a hate crime.

So, basically. His involvement could be anything except being a victim of a hate crime.

Indicted doesn't mean he was found guilty. Indicted only means the grand jury rules that the prosecutors have enough evidence to move forward with the case. The bar is very low as far as how much evidence is needed to indict someone. Still it is a step in the right direction. Most likely this will drag on for a year or more
