Nope it's been eradicated in Africa. Maybe you're thinking of some other diseases, but polio has been eradicated on the African continent. ( Ok, ok. There have been some cases where people have gotten the disease from the vaccinations themselves, but wild polio has been eradicated in Africa) The only places that have seen any wild polio cases (type 2) are isolated villages in the mountains of Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Type 1 polio has been completely eradicated worldwide.
There's no need to vaccinate for polio. Just like there's no need to vaccinate for smallpox. And if you're American, and born after 1973, then you aren't vaccinated for smallpox. Because there's no need. It's been eradicated too.
Again, if you were born in America after 1973, check your medical records and they'll show that you aren't vaccinated for smallpox. If you were born elsewhere, and you're under 38 years old, then you aren't vaccinated for smallpox. And soon no one in the world will be vaccinating for polio.
