There are a handful of Android apps in various stages of development. /v/versa, /v/boats, and at least a couple more whose names escape me right now.

A good search function would be great.

Looks really good so far! Because of that video, I expect to be able to browse at lightspeed.

If I could open multiple tabs or pages or whatnot within the app, that would be awesome, though I'm not sure how do-able that is. I'd like the ability to load up a few pages to read when I go to lunch (for some reason the breakroom at work has a really bad cell signal).

Gestures. If you’re familiar with Tweetbot on iOS, they have some of the most fluid and polished gestures I’ve seen in any app. I don’t even use Twitter anymore but I keep it installed for reference when I work on mobile UIs.

  • In a list view, swipe from right to left on an item to go to detail view. In Voat’s case it would go from frontpage or subverse to the specific post. Swipe from left to right to return to list view (without losing your place!).

  • Because of the above gesture, single tapping an item shouldn’t open it in a new view, but instead expand them inline, whether it’s an image, video, or text post. It could also reveal more metadata (time posted, upvotes and downvotes instead of total score) or reveal a toolbar of actions like subscribe, block, and save.

  • Pull down to refresh. Pretty standard. Should work with both list views (frontpage or subverses) and individual posts. Or just about any view that can change over time.

I want the ability to look at pictures without actually having to click on the post, a picture gallery similar to alien blues, and I want to be able to group similar subverses together and view them all at once.

The ability to follow posts, block spammers, highlight posts already viewed or dim them, view user stats and be able to view random subverses.

Focus on getting all the basic functionality in first. Subscribing, viewing subscriptions, posting, commenting, voting etc. Especially voting. Most of the android apps don't even allow voting at the minute, despite it being such an integral aspect of the community.
