That is not what is happening at all.

Texas is trying to remove voters from the rolls without actually determining if they are citizens are not.

They looked at voters and checked if they ever were listed as a noncitizen going back to like 1996. If you were not a citizen in 1996, but had a green card and voted in 2008, 2012 and 2016, that does NOT MAKE YOU A NON CITIZEN voter. A reasonable scenario in this case is that sometime before 2008, you became a citizen and are a legitimate eligible voter. Texas would have no basis for removing from rolls.

Another thing Texas did was use an extremely weak name check as a basis.

For example, if you are John Smith and you were born in Lubbock, you should not be kicked off because they think you might be John Smith who was born in Calgary. A single filter, especially name, is a really weak standard, but Texas used it. And this is how those fake stories of 58,000 non citizens voted in Texas.

A green card does not make you a US citizen, just a resident, and does not give you the right to vote

yes, that is my point.

They could be kicking legitimate voters off the books, folks who were not citizens in the 1990's but became citizens since then. They basically used insane criteria to inflate their numbers to try an purge as many voters as they could, which is why the judge shot them down.
