Season 5 was Russian Mafia using LA art dealers to traffick women as sex slaves. He ends up butting heads with a top Russian guy who threatens his entire family.

Great show actually. Gives some interesting insight into Hollywood and their fixers amd elites etc.

It has also been cathartic in dealing with my scars from abuse when I was a child. Painful sometimes but wow, when my favorite band in the world, Queens of the Stone Age's epic song "Vampyr of time and memory" plaid end of season 4 during one of the most anguished scenes I have ever watched on tv or movie and that actor convinced me 1000%.

QOTSA is never really featured much. Which suits me fine but it caught my attention and wow what an excellent choice. Having your innocence ripped from you as a child, and the shame and guilt, and our minds erasing or at least blocking off chunks of our memories to protect us makes that song so true it hurts. Because we still get robbed 30 years later when that inner rage builds up or something reminds us and we must dig ourselves back out again while friends and family get ever more distant and our lives spin out of control.

Well... It's incredible that show, that actor. It helped me externalize and identify things i had been doing too. It helped me to week for that character finally disclosing.

I do watch some tv but it's cable shows like Ray Donovan, Billions and True Detective. Or th8ngs from novels i enjoyed (I am a voracious reader since I was 12 of fantasy mostly then historical fiction and last 5 years I've been working on more sci fi and classics).

Despite the propaganda machine there are still excellent works. And much to learn and explore. Just avoid broadcast tv and dumb "popular" aka over hyped crap.

Thank you for that. You have good insight to the power of this show and the character of Ray. It grabs a space between the shadows of memory and empathy for his character. The music is a big part of the production as well. I am looking forward to the next season.

The first episode of Ray pulled me in because a friend lives in LA --and Ray is trying to get his daughter in an exclusive hs my goddaughter went to. Until 3 years ago, I really did think LA was a nice place to live and love. Now I know they are all users out there and the ppl who have been hurt, damaged, abused, ruined and murdered out there has made me never want to go back. Bel Aire Hotel, be damned. The damn place is a total cesspool.

I remember liking it too. I was downloading it when it started, but I stopped downloading shows a few years ago when the website I was using stopped working. I sometimes get DVDs when I see them on sale. If I see it on sale, I'll probably get it. I did like it.

If you check some of your libraries they may carry it or you may make a suggestion to the head librarian to purchase the series. I did that when I was working at the library. Got a lot of series like the Outlander, Game of Thrones, Penny Dreadful, Westworld..my bad..

We don't have a library in my town, just a Dollar General and a gas station.

I don't know where the closest library would be. Next time I go to the big city, I'll look.
