I don't know much about TPP to be quite honest, but why are mods removing and censoring it?

This is a really great question I wish we'd actually get an answer to. It's news so why not go there? I suppose it could fall under the rule against politics in /r/news, but at least tell someone that when you remove their post.

Anything removed should require an explanation and the specific rule that was violated.

They simply say, "it's politics".

They don't mention that just about everything is r/news is politics, and that they can just remove anything they want under this rule. It's not the real reason they are deleting the post.

Transparency and Reddit are not ideas that go together.

Kind of an out of the loop question here, why is the discussion about TPP banned in Reddit? I've known for a long time that it was banned, but it's just now that I've wondered why it should be. "Politics", I'm guessing?

It's okay, you aren't alone.

Isn't reddit kind of Streisanding the TPP story with all the censorship? There are still lots of TPP articles that make it through and whenever they do, the comments are always about how such an important story is being suppressed.

I don't think that is really fair since Reddit's was posted an hour before and Voat's was posted 14 hours before.

Of course if you go look now you will notice that Reddit's post has over 1,500 upvotes while on Voat it has 992.

Now I see. Thanks for the clarification. I don't really use Reddit.

This is the main reason to leave reddit. Not the controversy about official admins censoring (or subsidizing) hateful subs. It's because there are no good news subs left on the site. Just the other day I was poking around for a bunch of news alternatives. I found none, but the most indicative was r/newsnews. Sub only had one post from 6 months ago asking why there were 6 people browsing an empty subreddit. That day there were 5. At the time of this posting there's 3.

I can't think of a damn thing that Reddit does better than Voat. This place is the bomb.

This is biased towards Voat. The Reddit post had only been available for an hour, while the Voat post had been there since 14 hours. I don't expect the post got much attention anyway, usually TPP related news is better in /r/technology, /r/pcgaming, and /r/pcmasterrace. But at least make it a fair poll before trying to claim people on Reddit don't care about TPP.

Disclaimer: I by no means endorse Reddit, or any of it's decisions. I hate Reddit. I just think it isn't right to try and pass skewed results.
