Strongly support this idea as long as there are very strict limits in place to minimise drama:

  • Three strikes and you're out, to give people time to cool down if emotions are running hot. Maybe one week minimum between voting rounds. This also gives out-of-touch mods an opportunity for self-reflection, a chance to gracefully step aside or to acknowledge mistakes and change behaviour.
  • Only users with the top 50% CCP from that subverse should be able to vote (50% chosen arbitrarily). As in, they are the top contributors to that sub, the core of the community.

Seconded! He's an evil plague set upon the good people of Voat by the dark powers! Just look at the destruction he has wrought here!

I strongly support this idea. The fact is that some subverse names are simply better than others, because they are more obvious and easier to understand than any possible alternative. If such a place has poor mods there must be a way of changing them.

This could be abused, especially with smaller subverses. A group of like-minded individuals (and/or alts) could subscribe and bide their time. When they decided the time was right, they could vote to depose the mod and possibly take over.

Even if we change a detail of your proposal to x CCP within that subverse, there is a potential for abuse by groups who have nothing better to do that formulate long term plans of this nature. They could become active participants, the entire time planning to take over later.

That would require insane amounts of clandestine plotting, and could be easily foiled by the true users of that sub simply coming up with 34% of the vote in support of the existing mod. Worst case scenario, an admin could step in and overrule if it were an obvious case of abuse, like a very niche, unpopular opinion subverse being flooded with fake supporters for six months.

Do you really imagine that SJWs have the stomach to write a bunch of realistic sounding racist posts in order to build 100 CCP at /v/coontown, though?

That's a pretty specific example. I have no idea to what lengths some groups might go to or their reasons why, I only know that such a thing would become possible. If you make an exploit possible, someone is bound to take advantage of it.

Why introduce a vulnerability?

If you are going to involve admins, why not make that the first step instead of the last?
