You jest, but the Russkies have already done pretty much exactly that. They banned GMOs outright, they banned all American food imports, and they've been fairly explicit in saying that they're trying to produce and manufacture as much as humanly possible domestically rather than importing.

Agriculture collapsed drastically after the fall of the Soviet Union. Today, Russia is slowly turning their East into an agriculture power house, creating more arable land mass yearly. Russia is set on becoming food independent because it understand that almost all famines were artificially created as acts of proxy wars. It is even inviting South African white farmers citizenship to come farm in Russia. In the middle of the 2000s it started to heavily invest in agriculture. It is intentionally not reporting the large growth that has occurred while it did so under previous leaders.

Tariff the crap out of foreign foods, implement a punitive tax against large agricultural production, and a lot of the problem will solve itself.

If you have single payer/government funded health care you kinda have to. As a chubby guy I don't think any of you should have to pay extra for my fat ass.

Serious question: have you tried fasting - like, serious fasting?

I'm personally a fan of "The Complete Guide to Fasting: Heal Your Body Through Intermittent, Alternate-Day, and Extended". I like that particular book because it's written with input from a clinic in Toronto that does dietary intervention for people who are seriously overweight.

After about three days, hunger ends up turning off. You have to watch your electrolytes a bit, and insulin medication for diabetics, but it's one of the most sustainable weight loss approaches long-term. Our ancestors spent a lot of time with intermittent (involuntary) fasting. We aren't really wired for any food we want, all the time.

Right now I'm trying the low carb thing. Going too long without any food gives me serious headaches, but cutting back on carbs was surprisingly easy. And I do construction work so not eating while having to do heavy lifting at work is probably not a good idea, most I could do is fast on weekends.

If You can actually get away with fasting in this day, that means You're a worthless fuck with no job to go to. Spend days not eating and still have the energy to go to work? Yeah, no. I'm not stupid enough to skip eating for a few days and stick My hands anywhere near the metal-cutting equipment I work with. "Our ancestors" weren't "fasting", they were starving peasants who's daily responsibilities involved dragging a fucking rake across Their master's fields.

Fasting is a meme for NEETs on /fit/ to jerk off to.

I've actually lost about 15 pounds since my birthday a few weeks ago. Gotta get in shape so I can fight in the coming race war.

Yep. If you're insured or in debt, someone else owns you.

Russia, like Japan, and much of Europe, has heavily state subsidized healthcare. It would however be valid for a health insurance company to charge more for people who were obviously going to cost more. Insurance only really works as its name implies if it's a free association, and really is not the applicable financial vehicle for regular care. That's another topic though
