I was at the Hollywood Music Media Awards back in 2010, it was cool to be brushing shoulders with some celebrities, it was a red carpet kind of deal for independent artists. Anyway, met 3 people my age who were there just doing some photography work and we struck up a conversation then they suggested we take a trip down to the parkade to smoke out their car. Afterwards they invited my buddy and I back to their place in Malibu to party. All in all a great night. Never even got their names :)

I had just finished a two week course in SF and was heading to the airport. I was wired to get home so I was bouncing off the walls. I stopped at a gas station and was rushing to get smokes and chew for friends back home. The older black gentleman noticed my frantic attitude and very slowly said "son, you need to slow down and relax". I disregarded him immediately. Who was he to tell me how to live my life. At the time I was climbing the ladder pretty quickly and doing well for myself. Well, what he said stuck with me. I'd think about it all the time, in my free moments. Not terribly long later I demoted myself and went back to a position that had a schedule I liked. I gave up on advancing my career and have since focused on my personal life. I've never been happier. I've been contemplating going back to SF just to try and track him down and thank him. In some ways, he was more influential on my life than my parents.

I was leaving a hotel in downtown to hop a bus home. Halfway down the block, this woman comes racing down the sidewalk yelling and trying to get my attention. This is 9:30 on a Saturday morning, in a mostly business part of the city (no clubs or bars except at the hotel).
I stop thinking she wants to bum a cig. She runs up to me and says: "Do you have 10 minutes? We are suppose to be getting married right now and forgot to bring witnesses! Please say you will help me."
And so I did. That was more than a decade ago and I no longer recall their names.

The courthouse was across the street, but it was empty for the most part. They were the last in line on Friday evening, but an emergency came up with the judge, so he promised to show up the next morning, even though it was a weekend, and get it done so they could go on their honeymoon later that day. They had witnesses on Friday, but overlooked them for the following morning. This is when only business men and medical staff had mobile phones.

A girlfriend of mine was outside smoking at work. A man came up to her asking for a cigarette. After she explained that she didn't have anymore on her, he took the one from her hand and walked away b

I had something I needed to give to my sister but I could not find her so I thought that I could give it to her best friend to pass it on later. I ran up to this girl who I thought was my sister's friend saying "Caitlin Caitlin Caitlin where's Katie?" And the girl turned out not to be Caitlin. Upon realising I said "oh crap sorry" and ran away, fast.

Some guy I met at a bad religion concert, he asked me for a cigarette than asked me if they searched people at the gate, turns out he had four beers stuffed in his boxers. I followed him to the gates, he walked so slow and looked like a penguin with a stick up his ass. Funniest thing ever.

There's a hostel in Leadville Colorado where year after year I met the most interesting people. They're right at the intersection of a lot of adventures: Leadville 100 ultramarathon and mtn bike race, continental divide trail, colorado trail, Race Across America (continous bike race), rock climbers, mountaineers, etc, etc. Just about everyone there had incredible stories to tell. Also the owner, "wild bill," is also a heck of a character.

At a Black Keys concert last year, struck a chord with people behind me. They noticed my boss Sonic the Hedgehog t-shirt, and we started talking. Turns out the entire group of us, 3 couples in total, whom had never met previously, were going to the same Muse concert in about a month in Charlotte, NC. Had the greatest time talking and hanging out with them at a smashing concert. Wish I had gotten some contact info or something, they were cool as hell. Heres to my drunken concert friends. Good times.....
