People who argue about correct way of saying something using slang are silly... it's a soft drink (vs. alcohol=hard drink).
Pop/Cola/Soda is slang... like Hoagie/Hero/Grinder are all the same hot-Italian sub sandwich.
Funny how people want to argue about this for some reason to prove their regional correct slang.

Californian here. Calling it soda makes sense because soda is the base ingredient for soft drinks to which the flavor is added. Pop excludes plain soda, whereas soda is an all encompassing term for itself and all flavored variants. gavel sound

Pop is a sound, not a drink. The guy can't even pronounce pasta correctly.
