Do those sites give users voting rights for board members and policies?
[–] RedSocks157 ago
No, but they are the closet you will get to totally open, and total user control.

What makes you think that?

Only two people control VOAT at the moment. We are at their mercy. Users have no actual power in what happens to this site.

You are always at someone's mercy. Even your utopia democratic voting site would have to be hosted somewhere. A completely decentralized p2p system would need to be developed and maintained by someone. And so on.

Making people pay to use the site is probably the worst thing that could happen to voat at the moment. There's no way to implement anything that would allow the level of user control you're talking about. Enjoy it while it's uncensored and then move on to the next site.

It would be a decentralized, peer to peer system that would be handled 100% client side. There's an App called Aether bills itself as exactly that, though, I haven't gotten around to using it myself yet.

I haven't even been able to get it to load, I left it running for 2 hours last time I tried.

That got me thinking, there would have to be different subs called the same thing, but run by different mods. So, the "news" sub would have several duplicates with different mods. The same with politics, science, everything really.
