You guys are fucking retarded. China is sitting on its oil reserves while the rest of the world just burns theirs away.

China imports oil and buys yours. Do you think they're going to sell you any after you run out? Ha!

Canada is just as fucking dumb. They could refine their own oil and supply their own country for centuries. But instead they sell the crude and buy back the refined stuff. Just retarded.

I have been led to believe china has no energy under their region. Source for your claim? I'd like to know more.

Also, Canada isn't dumb. We are controlled by evil forces, like everywhere else. Canada was on its way to being a leading energy producer a few decades back. Then the government passed a law that made the business environment so nasty that all the companies left or went bankrupt. It took almost 40 years to get the Alberta Oil patch back to where it was after this disaster. Now these same evil forces won't let us build any refineries by making it too expensive to even consider starting such a project.

Perhaps we are dumb for electing the same people over and over who fuck with us like this. But then again the same could be said for every "free" country.

China is ranked 13th in the world in untapped "usable" oil. This doesn't include petroleum that the technology hasn't been developed yet to extract. It's also ranked 1st in the world for "strategic reserves" (that means all of YOUR oil that they are sitting on). This is common knowledge found on Wikipedia and other easily accessed sources.

Before the west runs out of oil, they will release the high tech energy inventions which will produce limitless energy with no fossil fuel consumption at all.

Hell, we'll run out of oxygen before this planet stops making petroleum.

Oh, that would be nice. Actually, you make me remember a shower thought I had last night: why did radio come before TV? I'd think the evolution of images would have evolved into broadcasted pictures before the evolution of music did, because music already projects into the distance. Perhaps radio coming first is evidence of reverse engineering found space-alien tech?

Fuck you. That's what he meant to say.

I'm thinking he just worded this strangely and meant to say that for the first time in his life we are the largest exporter of oil and gas in the world.

My question is, why is the US both importing and exporting crude oil? Are there different types of crude oil that sell for different prices?

Yes. Oil is a hugely complicated chemistry business. You don't really pump "oil" out of the ground, you pump some sludge that contains various useful things, and various bad things you don't want, like sulphur. The process of going from ground sludge to something like gasoline, which can be a commodity, is long and complicated.

Is what they pump out of the ground called "crude oil" or is it called something else? I have a friend who designs oil refineries, I really should ask him a bit more about this. I do know the process is long and complicated and some by-products are tar and kerosene (paraffin in Europe) but that's about all I know.
