Well, to be honest, I'm an english speaker. But I am a Lucha Libre (Central America's Professional Wrestling) enthusiast and a b-movie nut. And there were a TON of Lucha movies from the '60s to 2011 I'm trying to collect. But sure! I tried doing a voat search for torrent trackers, but /v/trackers didn't come up. I guess I was doing it wrong.

Isn't voat search still borked because of the DDoS protection?

For music trackers there isn't really anything as good as what.cd - if you can get in that is. You kind of need a seedbox in order to keep up the ratio needed as many people are seeding a lot.

Yeah, a buddy of mine tried to get in to what.cd and he told me the interview process was absurd. He does alot of EAC FLAC rips of fairly obscure electronic and indie rock acts and tried to get in on that angle. No dice with those cats. I don't have an external seedbox, per se. But I do have a linux server running a deluge daemon 24/7 assuming my cable isn't out. And as an ex-cable installer, I rarely have cable problems. So seeding never is a problem for me.

By comparison, my go-to tracker is iptorrents.com. And it is UNBELIEVABLE how many quality bluray movies, themed movie packs, HD TV show rips, HD PPV Events, and basic software they have. But their music just SUCKS.

What's interview is not as bad as some people act. In case you've never heard of it, there's a site called whatinterviewprep.com that will tell you all you need to know to pass. I passed on my first shot, even though I missed a few questions. Be honest if you don't know something. Tell them if you're not totally sure of your answer, they're understanding.

As far as the charge that you have to have a seedbox to stay competitive, that's not necessarily the case. Yes, people with seedboxes get more upload, and someone like me with a 2 Mb/s upload speed doesn't get too much seeding credit. However, that's not the only way to get upload. Requests on the site are an amazing way to get credit, and some people offer stuff like 10GB upload for one Bandcamp album worth $10. Sometimes you get really lucky and stumble across one that's really high, like $7 for an EP that gives 30 GB upload.

The other good way to get upload is, obviously, by uploading. Unlike some trackers, what has no restriction against free content, so you can go to BandCamp and find some obscure free noise album or something, check to see if it's on What, and upload that for credit.

Even on my shit connection, I have a ratio of about 2, and just south of 20GB downloaded.

TL;DR What.CD isn't as frightening as people say

The interview is not at all absurd, they are fairly basic questions meant to deter people who have not bothered learning enough to keep the high quality standard of torrents on there (What is flac?, What is a transcode? If I have an mp3 and convert it to flac, can I upload it?, etc..).

24/7 linux server with torrent client counts as a seedbox and should be good enough. Uptime counts on this tracker (if you seed 24/7 you need a lower ratio than if you seed an hour per day).

BitMeTV.org for TV torrents Speed.CD for general

Here's what I'm currently a member of and what I think:

What.CD: One of the 'Holy Trinity' for entertainment. Far and away the best music tracker, both in overall experience and in selection. Ultrapolished interface, and integration with MusicBrainz for uploading makes it a breeze. Ratio is easy to maintain if you put some effort into it, especially filling requests. 10/10

MuTracker: The first private one I was a member of, before I knew about private trackers. Dedicated to music, selection is definitely limited compared to What. If you see an album on /mu/ mentioned a lot, it'll probably be there. A good alternative to what, especially if you're trying to keep your ratio there up. Downloading is based on a Credit system, the more you're actively seeding (not just uploading, but simply have a torrent in your client), the more you get and the more you can download. 7/10

baconBits: A general tracker that grew out of the other place's community (has no direct association with them at all, so don't worry about the kn0thing/pao/spez censorship). Not the best at any one thing, but they have a lot of things. Currently I use it for my TV and Movie downloads, and I've been mostly satisfied with the selection of both. Ratio based, but with bonus points, and freeleech is fairly common. 8/10

waffles.fm: Waffles was created at the same time as What, as a successor to Oink's Pink Palace after its takedown. Unlike what, waffles retains a high similarity to its predecessor, even retaining the 'avatars must be cute' rule. There are no artist or album pages, only results of searches. Selection is more limited than what, but more varied than MT. With the lacking interface, I'd say to use it for the same reasons you'd use MuTracker. 7/10

gazellegames: A Video Games tracker with games from just about every platform. Selection is average, there have been some searches that didn't grab results that I thought should have (No Ridge Racer for Playstation?), but the interface is pretty nice. 8/10

SceneAccess.eu: This one's an interesting one. They provide content from scene groups, so I'd say it's a sort of general tracker. Only certain people can upload, so upload credit is from seeding. I haven't personally downloaded anything from them yet. I won't give a rating, since I have such limited experience with it.

Hm... Cinematik. I'm going to look into that. To be clear, I've heard about What.CD but I don't have the desire to rent a seed box and I don't have FLAC quality music to share. The only real contribution I'd have for the community there is that I seed things for a very long time and have a 4 TB drive just for my incoming torrents (not including my "cold storage"). So I'm very capable in that respect.
