Every time I see something about the Standard Hotel I think of American Horror Story Hotel. I really do think that season is about the Standard.

What did they dissolve in acid before they dumped it down the drain?

Is this the same Ed Buck that just got busted for having another dead crack addict in his home and he's a big Democratic donor?

Wasn't that the same year a young man "jumped" off the roof?

LOL! There's a rooftop pool at The Standard. The article specifies "pool workers". Come on man... nothing fishy about trying to dump pool cleaning chemicals down a storm drain. Those are chemicals you can easily get at any grocery store or pool store.

  1. Every "pool worker" knows that mixing acid and Chlorine makes Chlorine gas. 2. Why would any pool worker dispose of 110 gallons of good acid and Chlorine when they still have a pool to maintain?

Yeah, I didn't think of that actually. Good points.

L.A.'s Standard Hotel owner charged with chemical dumping - latimes

'Ultimately, investigators determined that the toxic cloud was chlorine gas emanating from a storm catch basin two blocks away. '

'Hotel maintenance workers initially admitted pouring a small amount of chlorine down a rooftop drain. '

'Pool workers poured large amounts of chlorine and acid down a rooftop drain, prosecutors say, causing a gas cloud in a nearby Metro station. ', "James Peaco, coordinator of the FBI's weapons of mass destruction squad in Los Angeles, received a message on his BlackBerry shortly after the gas cloud was reported downtown."

'The incident began about 6:30 a.m. on Jan. 19 when someone called the Los Angeles Police Department and complained about a chemical smell coming from the Metro stop. '

This has been an automated message.

you can't melt a body with pool acid, you need something much stronger, but it can clean blood out of the pipes

Why not just have a vat in a secluded basement? Draining an entire pool seems a bit bizarre unless someone died accidentally during a foam party. I could see covering that up, but why drain it? If the body is gone, why the stress?
